GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman's Club Member Wins Top Honors
Jolie Frankfurth won the Jennie Award at this weekend's GFWC Fall Board in Orlando.!!!
As the nominee for the state, she will now go on to the regional competition.
The Jennie is the only national award that singles out and honors members for personal excellence.
It is intended to spotlight those extraordinary club women who perform their roles as volunteers within their clubs, elsewhere in the community and as a member of a family or extended family.
The GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman's Club is so proud to have Jolie as our representative.
Congratulations, Jolie!!!! Good luck in the regional competition!!!

Four months ago we joined forces with other domestic violence advocates to express our outrage regarding the publication and promotion of O.J. Simpson's book, "If I Did It."
The following statement by Sue Else, President, National Network to End Domestic Violence, has been received by GFWC and we ask that you join with your fellow club members around the world in expressing your total disgust with these proceedings.
Please communicate these proceedings to your fellow club members and ask that all join forces with other domestic violence advocates in calling, emailing and writing letters to the editors of your local newspapers and by contacting your legislatures.
As leaders in our communities, we must join together to do all we can to end this senseless abuse called "Domestic Violence."
Yours, in Federation Service,
Jackie

National Network to End Domestic Violence Opposes Auction of O.J. Simpson Book "If I Did It"
Washington, DC - Mar 15, 2007
Just four months ago, domestic violence advocates led successful efforts to cancel the publication and promotion of O.J. Simpson's book "If I Did It." Thousands of calls to the publisher and book sellers clearly demonstrated the public's concern over distributing a "how-to guide" to kill your wife.
Despite public outrage, by the end of this month the rights to "If I Did It" will be auctioned and the book most likely will go to print. The National Network to End Domestic Violence is extremely disappointed to find that "If I Did It" is one step closer to finding its way into bookstores and libraries in our communities.
On average, three women a day will be murdered by their intimate partners, and far too often, other loved ones also lose their lives. Studies show that domestic violence homicides of women have failed to decline in 30 years. The publication of "If I Did It" will do little to help end this horrific crime. Instead it will only create more pain and fear for victims of domestic violence.
The public spoke loud and clear in November -- this book has no place in our communities and only causes more grief for battered women and children across the country.

About National Network to End Domestic Violence
The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) is a membership and advocacy organization representing the 54 state and U.S. territory domestic violence coalitions. NNEDV is the voice of these coalitions, their more than 2,000 local domestic violence member programs, and the millions of domestic violence survivors who turn to them for services. In 2000 and 2005, NNEDV members all across the country played a crucial role in the reauthorization of VAWA. Through its extensive state and grassroots network, NNEDV continues to mobilize a powerful constituency to make their voices heard by policymakers.
